Nicholas King

About Me

Hello! I'm Nicholas King, a graduate student pursuing an M.S. in Computer Science at the University of California, San Diego, with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence. I work in the Rose STL Lab, where I focus on generative models and deep learning for scientific applications—particularly biomechanically informed human motion modeling in collaboration with the Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance.

My research has led to multiple first-author and co-authored publications accepted to top machine learning conferences including NeurIPS, AAAI, ICLR, and L4DC. I have also worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Western Digital, where I specialized in firmware performance optimization for hard disk drives.

Beyond research, I have spent the past six years tutoring in artificial intelligence, computer programming, mathematics, and other STEM fields, and I serve as a research mentor for university students. Teaching is something I am deeply passionate about—as a first-generation college student, I know how impactful the right guidance can be. I believe anyone with the right mindset and habits can achieve their goals, and I tailor my approach to each student's learning style, breaking complex topics into clear, digestible steps.
